About the role

As Director of HR you are responsible for nurturing the company culture while driving high engagement levels within the organization. You lead organizational and talent development strategies and represent Unboxed in the HR, recruiting, and talent development communities.

We have organized the critical skills required to be a successful Director of HR into four key areas:

  • Talent Management – the ability to recruit, develop, and engage the workforce to enable the organization to achieve short- and long-term goals.
  • Strategic Thinking – the ability and desire to solve complex problems and support the company’s future growth plans

Specific Responsibilities:

Organizational Development & Culture

  • Generates specific organizational goals and strategies (e.g., culture change, change management, restructuring, support training, and DEI initiatives) to support company objectives and culture
  • Gathers data and analyzes business challenges involving the workforce, including employee engagement and retention, and offers solutions that align people and company strategy
  • Consults with people managers on performance, employee development, organizational and leadership matters
  • Acts as central point of contact for employee relations and well-being, helping team members resolve interpersonal issues and disputes
  • Oversees exit and stay interviews
  • Manages and coordinates the company performance review process and supports succession planning efforts with managers and their team members
  • Oversees the hiring and recruitment process from requisition to onboarding
  • Stays current on local market trends to attract talent and build applicant sources through job posting sites, college and community job fairs, and relationships with talent agencies
  • Implements candidate evaluation techniques and processes to support hiring decisions
  • Partners with management to create effective job descriptions and onboarding plans for new hires
  • Conducts market research and analyzes trends to ensure total compensation packages are competitive
  • Manages the annual open enrollment process by recommending benefits options, managing broker relationships, conducting team information sessions, and collecting enrollment paperwork
  • Maintains the employee handbook, manages updates, and provides information regarding policies and procedures
  • Maintains an accurate record of new hire, status change, and termination data
  • Maintains employee records including pre-screening documents, new hire paperwork, benefits enrollment, and coaching documents
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
