Job Summary
The Production Packer/ Inspector is responsible for monitoring quality, maintaining a flow of material through the extrusion process, maintain automation equipment ensuring that finished materials meet the specific quality standards and are packaged properly.
Essential Functions
- Able to read blueprint drawings, specification sheet and shop orders to determine package requirements, product specification and dimensions and material requirements.
- Must understand packing methods and carton sizes including the location of boxes within manufacturing area as well as assembling of boxes or cartons, counting and placing only inspected finished products which meet specifications into the appropriate box or carton, closing and labeling boxes and stacking boxes onto skid.
- Use calipers (inside and outside), gauges, other measuring devices and “samples” to ensure quality- finished product meets specifications.
- Notify Extruder Operator and/or Cell Lead when product is not within specifications.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by cell lead.
- Work on more than one production line.
Secondary Functions
- May be responsible for assisting, training, and/or monitoring the work of less senior Production Packer/ Inspectors and temporary workers.
- Adheres to and supports the company’s vision, mission, and goals.
- Assist with any issues on the line as well as set-up, shut down and start up.
Performance Measures
- Minimize rejection rate.
- Maintain proper line efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Not applicable.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.
- Must be flexible to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.
- Mandatory overtime on Saturdays may be required.
- Potential overtime during weekdays may be required.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
Skills (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other)
- Basic math skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to communicate/read/write in the English language.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
- Able to lift 40 pounds repetitively.
- Be able to work in a production environment.
- Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise.
