About the Role
Steer North America is looking for an experienced, motivated, self-starting, problem-solver and collaborative professional to fill our Senior Travel Demand Modeler position. This person will be working in our Infrastructure team focused on preparing traffic and revenue studies, which has contributed to our company’s ongoing success in the United States, Canada, and beyond.
This person will be a contributing member of Steer’s North American/International teams which is comprised of planners, engineers, economists, designers, financial modellers and technical specialists. In combination, these disciplines provide us with the breadth and depth to deliver integrated and innovative solutions to our many clients.
Our Infrastructure unit brings together a mix of international experts from both the private and public sectors. We combine our understanding of people, context and function to deliver innovative solutions which helps to make our cities, transport systems and public places understandable, accessible and enjoyable for all.
The Senior Travel Demand Modeler will:
- Develop travel demand models to support traffic and revenue studies
- Work with colleagues to help deliver new and preexisting client projects
- Manage work conducted by other team members to budget and quality expectations
- Support Steer’s Infrastructure practice via client engagement and proposal development
- Mentor and manage the development of early career professionals

Requirements
The preferred candidate for this role will possess some or all of the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil/Transportation Engineering/Transportation Planning or related field
- 7-12 years' experience in travel demand modeling
- Advanced proficiency in Cube/Voyager scripting
- Experience in task/project management
- Strong knowledge of 4-step travel demand modeling process, including discrete choice modeling and advanced practices
- Ability to oversee computer programming related to travel demand modeling and traffic analysis
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in the production of model documentation and technical reports.
- Experience with managing a team’s deliverables to fit a client’s needs and expectations
- An ability to take initiative and work independently
- An ability to delegate tasks and train other team members
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Additional skills of merit include:
- Post-graduate qualification in Transportation Engineering/Planning
- Experience using TransCAD, VISUM, EMME
- Programming experience using Excel VBA, R, Python
- Proficiency in the use of statistical packages and data analysis languages suc
