Salary Range: $50.35 Per Hour

SUMMARY: The HVAC Technician will maintain heating, ventilation & cooling equipment and controls in proper operation, control, and balance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration and/or hydronic systems, air-side equipment/components, piping, valves, and ductwork, and controls.
• Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications.
• Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metal working tools and welding equipment.
• Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system.
• Installs fan systems on “mounts” or in-line.
• Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools.
• Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
• Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
• Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.
• Installs air and water filter sin completed installation.
• Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
• Provide Test and Balancing for air-side systems.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Certificates, licenses and registrations required: Certification to operate, maintain and repair AC, evaporative cooling, dehumidification, and mechanical ventilation equipment. Will need an EPA license.
• Ability to obtain secret security clearance to perform duties in high-security US government buildings
• 1 year journeyman’s experience in the trade.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong oral and written skills.
