Engineering and Program Management: This role is part of Engineering Program Management (EPM), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.

The Production Support Engineering Senior Manager will be leading an engineering team that acts as the key technical interface between the production value stream (procurement, R&D, testing, quality, and operations) and the design engineering teams across Blue Origin Development Programs. The person in this role will ensure that technical resources are efficiently deployed to program and production teams with the responsibility of hands-on floor support to address MRB/Non-conformances, guiding design for manufacturability, developing production engineering process/methodology, and pro-active communication.  This leader will be responsible for championing efforts to identify, develop, and deploy designs and methodology to improve quality, reduce cost, support producible designs, and optimize the production system.  Additionally, they will act as a negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to make the organization optimized.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for our mission and vision!
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering and manufacturing support experience
  • BS or MS degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Experience with development, design, quality, manufacturing, and production engineering
  • Strong personnel, planning and project management skills
  • Ability to operate, make decisions, lead, and make forward progress in ambiguous environments
  • Ability to effectively team and communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally within a geographically disperse organization.
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple teams, earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired:

  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software and processes
  • Understanding of development product lifecycle management and associated gated reviews
  • Proficiency in business and engineering software (i.e. MSOffice, Windchill, PLM, etc)
  • Previous experience with engineering change management and non-conformances
  • Experience in complex hardware design and manufacturing (i.e. castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, cleaning, non-destructive testing methods, complex assembly and acceptance testing)
