The Opportunity:

Advising. Collaborating. One County. We are seeing a Workers' Compensation Business Partner at Multnomah County! As a Workers' Compensation Business Partner, you serve as a strategic resource that helps the over 5,600 employees navigate the complexities of Workers’ Compensation, ensuring compliance and as a part of the Risk Management team, strive to make Multnomah County a safer place to work.
Under the general guidance of the Risk Services Manager and the Workers’ Compensation Program Manager (WCPM), this position ensures success for the employer’s legal responsibilities related to workers’ compensation self-insured, but not self-administered, claims processing for work related injury or illness under Oregon’s jurisdiction. This position interprets and applies workers’ compensation statutes, County policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and benefit programs to ensure governing rules and regulations align for optimum outcomes for both the County and injured workers.
Primary responsibilities include:
The primary focus of this position will be responsible for the initial workers’ compensation claims intake and employer required processing based on Oregon statutes and rules
Independently, initiate all activity required for new claim set up and distribution
Provide technical guidance to managers and business partners regarding workers’ compensation issues
Support the objectives of cost containment and financial recoveries for the County’s self-insured workers’ compensation program
Assist Workers’ Compensation Program Manager (WCPM) with administering and communicating collective bargaining criteria for injured/ill workers (supplemental pay continuation, PERS Continuation, light duty, reinstatement/re-employment, etc)
Administer the Employer-At-Injury (EAIP) and Light Duty Programs
Other duties include:
Monitor, approve, and communicate eligibility for medical appointment wage replacement
Responsible for internal check processing requirements
