Come join the Utility-scale Development team at RWE Clean Energy, which is responsible for leading renewable energy projects (Wind, Solar, Storage) from inception to the start of construction. The Director, Business Development will support directly on of the regional development groups in the US, working on market, customer, and policy intelligence, regional portfolio management and assessment, leading critical business initiatives, including, product pricing, competitive analysis, M&A support of utility-scale Solar, Wind and Energy Storage projects in the US and Canada. The Business Development Director will play a key role in ensuring implementation of regional targets, and regionally portfolio management, achieving and reporting relevant operational KPIs. The position directly reports to the regional VP of Development.
Responsibilities
- Lead regional portfolio management analysis to assess pipeline strength or deficiencies relative to regional growth targets, considering all aspects from pure development to commercial
- Track regional KPIs (e.g. new project origination)
- Forecast regional financial and non-financial obligations (e.g. interconnection including LCs), including relative approval needs and process
- Serve as regional interface for planning and tracking of annual budgets
- Manage regional portfolio of pipeline data, conducting necessary quality checks to assure accuracy
- Facilitate regional roll-out of strategic initiatives, e.g. new digital tools, or standards
- Drive regional implementation of mid to long-term strategic targets (both through organic and inorganic growth), ensuring target achievement by understanding both internal and external success factors
- Provide strategic regional analysis, assessing e.g. customers, markets, competitors, interconnection queues
- Develop all supporting approval / board documentation for regional level project approvals
- Support internal improvement initiatives under the remit of the regional VP
- Ensure best practice exchanges with other Business Development leads
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM, business/economics, or relevant fields. Professional energy, analytic background plus external relationships with customers, competitors, policy/regulators makers is a strong preference
- Minimum of 8 years of work experience applicable to renewable energy infrastructure, direct experience in Renewables is highly beneficial
- Strong knowledge in key areas, including energy markets, prospecting, project development, engineering, or construction
- Proven analytic & strategic mindset
- Exceptional project management, organizational, and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and work ethic
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $153,000 - $230,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
