This is a union position.

The Visitor Services Representative is responsible for participating in all levels of visitor service at the Admissions Desk and at the Omnimax Concessions Stand. Duties include greeting patrons and answering questions concerning the facility; engaging visitors in dialogue in order to cross sell the Science Center’s many programs and to assist the visitor in their ticket selections; selling food and drink items at the concessions stand; completing computerized ticketing selections for the general public, groups and members while assuring accurate recording of information; selling memberships; completing telephone same-day and advance reservations for members; balancing cash drawer; keeping workspaces (Omnimax lobby and admissions area) clean, orderly, well-stocked and presentable at all times; and participating in all levels of customer service and programming to achieve excellence in these areas.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• High school graduate.
• Experience with handling cash.
• Prefer one year related work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
• Ticketing system equipment, personal computer, calculator, Omnimax cash register, food and beverage items, concession stand food and beverage preparation equipment, typewriter, and copier.
• Excellent interpersonal, public relations and communication skills.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provides the highest level of customer service to visitors at the admissions counter and Omnimax concession stand at all times
• Maintains proper cash handling at all times.
• Protects security of confidential monetary information (credit card numbers, balancing paperwork, etc.)
• Keeps knowledgeable of current changes and events within the Science Center in order to answer questions, cross sell services and programs; and meet the goals and objectives of the Visitor Services department and the Science Center.
• Keeps workstations (admissions area, concession stand, Omnimax Lobby, main lobby, brochure area and information desk) current, clean and orderly.
• Displays all printed materials and products in a manner that is easily accessible and seen by visitors.
• Acts to resolve visitor concerns or complaints, maintaining at all times a courteous and gracious manner.
• Attends scheduled Visitor Services meetings and training sessions.
• Serves as a backup for other divisions within the Science Center, on an as needed basis.
• Displays courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with the public. Interacts with patrons with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• Projects the professional image and attitude of the Kamin Science Center at all times.
• Attends to other duties as assigned.


The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
