The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for leading and overseeing all key financial functions of IEEE, ensuring the organization's long-term financial health, sustainability, and strategic growth. This role manages a $600+ million business enterprise, including investment management, financial operations, enterprise risk mitigation, and global financial compliance across 100+ countries.
The CFO provides strategic financial leadership to the IEEE Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Audit Committee, and Investment Committee while serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, volunteers, and key stakeholders. This position directs financial planning, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency. Additionally, the CFO leads external partnerships with auditors, banks, insurance providers, and investment managers to maintain financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
The CFO reports directly to the IEEE Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer and serves as a key member of the Management Council, IEEE's executive leadership team, contributing to high-level decision-making and organizational strategy to drive financial and operational excellence.
This role also plays a key part in IEEE's strategic direction by driving financial innovation, optimizing investment strategies, enhancing business processes, and implementing enterprise risk management initiatives that align with IEEE's mission, vision, core values and strategic plan. Leading a team of over 100 financial professionals, the CFO fosters talent development and operational excellence, ensuring IEEE remains financially robust in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Key Responsibilities
- Enterprise Financial Leadership & Governance – Oversees and manages IEEE’s broad financial functions, including accounting, auditing, tax administration, treasury, financial regulatory compliance and investment management, ensuring alignment with IEEE’s business goals.
- Strategic Planning & Execution – Develops, directs, and executes IEEE’s financial and operational strategies to support long-term growth and organizational objectives.
- Financial Stewardship & Reporting – Accountable for financial management and reporting for IEEE’s $600+ million business enterprise, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
- Risk & Business Continuity Management – Leads IEEE’s enterprise risk assessment and management, mitigation strategies, and business continuity planning to safeguard financial and operational stability.
- Investment & Asset Optimization – Oversees the strategic growth and management of IEEE’s investment portfolio to maximize returns while ensuring financial sustainability.
- Budgeting & Financial Oversight – Serves as a profit-and-loss fiduciary steward, ensuring sound budgeting, financial forecasting, and resource allocation in line with IEEE’s strategic goals.
- Staff Leadership & Development – Manages and develops a team of 11 direct reports and approximately 100 indirect reports, fostering performance growth and career development.
- Business & Operational Administration – Manages multiple business areas, including Internal and Operations Audit, Financial Planning, Procurement, Vendor Management, and Enterprise Risk Management, ensuring seamless organizational operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory – Provides financial counsel to IEEE’s executive leadership, volunteer committees, and board members, guiding strategic decision-making.
- Process Improvement & Efficiency – Implements systems and processes that enhance operational efficiency, reduce redundancies, and optimize financial workflows.
- Value Creation & Strategic Growth – Drives IEEE’s long-term success by designing and packaging compelling value for stakeholders, creating systems that enhance operational effectiveness, leveraging IEEE’s intellectual capital for financial and strategic growth, and monitoring key business activities and financial trends for informed decision-making.
