Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,600 - $5,000 per month
Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,385 - $7,935 per month
- This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
Under general direction, the position will function as the Technical Director and be responsible for overseeing the mechanical and technical aspects of the preparation of sets for Theatre and Dance productions. Act as lead staff person to produce (build, rig, install and remove) scenery and props for the children's tour and various shows during the university theatre season. Works with faculty and staff to coordinate schedules and use of space. Oversee the activities of students and staff in constructing scenery and maintaining a nearly 25,000 square foot facility that includes two public theatre spaces, a fully equipped scenery shop and multiple storage areas. Oversee and monitor student crews during technical rehearsals and performances. Assist with lectures and demonstrations for the Drama 34 class.
Key Qualifications
- Ability to support classroom instruction by performing classroom demonstrations.
- Ability to work with faculty and provide training and supervision to students involved in productions.
- Ability to manage staging needs for productions requiring numerous set changes and the ability to manage and coordinate the use of multiple facilities.
- Ability to foster an inclusive workplace and work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and across organizational lines.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and prepare detailed written information.
- Plan, organize, and schedule activities.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or four years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged
in the applicable production specialty such as costume construction, stage and set construction, lighting production, and/or sound/audio production or related experience.
