The Mercer Sales Compensation Lead is responsible for implementing and managing the sales compensation program for the organization. This role involves collaborating with sales leadership, Human Resources, and Finance teams to develop and administer sales incentive plans that align with business objectives and drive sales performance. The Sales Compensation Lead will analyze sales data, evaluate sales compensation structures, and make recommendations for improvements to ensure the effectiveness and competitiveness of the program. Additionally, this role will provide guidance and support to the sales team regarding compensation plans, policies, and procedures. This highly visible position reports into our Senior Finance Manager FP&A.

Sales Compensation Lead

What can you expect?

  • Collaborate with Total Rewards, Human Resources, Sales Leadership and Finance teams to establish sales compensation plan language that executes on the intent of the plan.

  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of current compensation plans and identify areas for improvement.

  • Conduct and or validate market research and benchmarking to ensure the competitiveness of the sales compensation program.

  • Provide guidance and support to the sales team regarding compensation plans, policies, and procedures.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR and Finance, to ensure alignment and compliance with company policies and regulations.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in sales compensation to continuously improve the program.

  • Ensure accurate and timely communication of compensation plans and changes to the sales team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with sales leadership and cross-functional teams.

We will count on you to:

  • Implement sales compensation plans that motivate and incentivize the sales team to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.

  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of current compensation plans and identify areas for improvement.

  • Monitor and track sales performance against compensation plans and targets and provide regular reports and analysis to sales leadership.

  • Manage the administration of sales compensation, including commission calculations, payout processes, and dispute resolution.

  • In-depth knowledge of sales compensation principles, practices, and regulations.

  • Have strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze sales data and performance metrics.

What you need to have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.

  • 5-10 years with proven experience in sales compensation management, preferably in a similar role.

  • Proficient in using compensation management software, tools, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in managing compensation calculations, processes, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

What makes you stand out?

  • Knowledge of sales compensation processes and strategies is a plus.

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
