Job Description
Job Summary
Responsible for tasks which support the operation of the Archives/Special Collections section of Roberts Library.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving in-coming calls or retrieving messages, giving information and taking messages
- Assist patrons with their research request submitted by telephone, email, and in person by searching files, computer databases, collections, finding guides, and photography archives
- Use SharePoint, ArchiveSpace, and LibScan for uploading collections and documents
- Upload files onto ContentDM using the Project Client Application
- Assist with creative displays involving research for historical background information, finding items to include in display, setting up and removing display, using creative skills to design an appealing/interesting arrangement of display items
- It is the employee and supervisor’s shared responsibility to regularly meet to discuss performance, suggest job description updates and set mutually beneficial goals.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the team and institutional goals
Specific Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of a high school diploma (some college preferred)
- Basic computer operating skills
- Library of Congress book shelving skills
- Request supplies and materials for the Archives/Special Collections
- Maintain administrative files for Archives
- Assist in keeping a record of new professor on campus for the Faculty files.
- Copy or scan materials for patrons and other departments on campus
- Work with confidential material in a professional manner
- Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification and credit check may be required.
- Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.
Physical Requirements
- Employment is generally in an office setting which requires personnel to be able to interact with others by various means of communicate and be able to traverse campus by any mode of personal transportation.
