Primary Duties
1. Assists with the preparation of SEC periodic reports (10-Ks, 10-Qs), other SEC filings as needed and internal financial reports by obtaining, developing and analyzing appropriate financial and other statistical data.
2. Interfaces with management as a strategic resource to determine appropriate analytical approach, preparing financial analyses and interpreting results according to internal and regulatory reporting standards.
3. Reviews financial data collected from multiple departments (i.e. Accounting, HR, Legal, etc.) for accuracy and appropriateness and uses data to prepare internal and external financial statements including various analyses (actual to actual, budget to actual), graphs and charts for submission to Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
4. Assists with the coordination of quarterly reviews and annual audits of the Company's financial statements performed by the external auditors.
5. Initiates or supports technical accounting research as needed and drafts written memorandums addressing these issues. Addresses accounting issues as they arise and reviews emerging technical accounting literature for applicability. Assists with the implementation of new accounting pronouncements as needed.
6. Interacts with various departments within the organization to collect and analyze financial information and prepare financial statements. Interacts with external parties including auditors, actuaries, regulatory commission staff and others as needed.
7. Prepares periodic state and federal regulatory reports and financial data for distribution to other parties as required, including governmental, industry and other surveys/reports.
8. Prepares the financial statements for the Company's benefit plans and coordinates with the external auditors regarding the annual audits of these plans.
9. Prepares and reviews XBRL tagging for SEC filings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Educational/Experience Level:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and four years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or Financial Reporting, or related field; or
A general educational knowledge normally acquired through a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and seven years of related experience in Accounting, Finance, Auditing o
