Senior Lead, Program Management
KyndrylAbout the role
Who We Are
At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that the world depends on every day. So why work at Kyndryl? We are always moving forward – always pushing ourselves to go further in our efforts to build a more equitable, inclusive world for our employees, our customers and our communities.
The Role
Skytap, a Kyndryl Company, is looking for an Engineering Technical Program Manager who will play a dual role managing both the projects and the process required for us to continue to innovate on our core product. You will work cross-functionally across the Skytap business but primarily partner with our Engineering and Product teams to ensure that projects are delivered successfully and on schedule. You will draw upon excellent coordination, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and have a passion for understanding and optimizing the development process. You are a self-directed team player who thrives on innovation and new challenges. You will drive continuous process improvement and collaborate effectively across teams to solve problems and deliver new solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
Directly manage high-visibility projects, from the early technical design stage through to post-release retrospective and analysis. Among other things, this entails sequencing tasks in the correct order, coordinating communication across multiple engineering and product teams, giving high-level status updates to senior stakeholders, monitoring project progress, identifying and mitigating project risks, ensuring sufficient test and release plans are included, and adjusting tactics as necessary to ensure the team meets deadlines.
Learn enough technical details to understand a project’s risks, be able to ask the right questions of the project team and identify and clarify unaddressed technical issues and risks.
Provide accurate estimates of effort and timelines for completion of projects.
Improve others’ ability to effectively manage their own projects by documenting best practices, introducing new tools, defining processes, and educating and mentoring others on skillful project management.
Work with Engineering and Product Teams to improve upfront planning and scheduling of the project roadmap at different time scales (quarterly, semiannually, annually). This will include using data to schedule within the team’s capacity, identifying processes to periodically assess and improve planning, and communicating the plan to a broad set of Skytap teams.
Over time your responsibilities will expand to include define engineering strategy with senior leaders, developing top-level engineering programs using OKRs and KPIs, using data and defining processes to improve the Engineering Team’s understanding of and response to incidents, and defining new business processes with other teams like the Support Team and Customer Success Team to improve their interface with Engineering.
Your future at Kyndryl
Becoming a Project Manager at Kyndryl is an excellent gateway to many different paths. You’ll be creating a well-rounded skillset while gaining professional certifications and qualifications. You can evolve horizontally into other technical or non-technical areas such as Technical Service Architect, or you can move vertically to become a senior project manager or program manager. There are many different types and flavors of PM roles, so everyone can find the opportunity that suits them best.
Kyndryl currently does not require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however, if you are hired to work at a client, customer, or partner location, you may be required to show proof of vaccination to align with their respective COVID-19 vaccination policies. Those who believe they are eligible may apply for a medical or religious accommodation prior to the start of employment.
