Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Cyber Sys Engr – Cyber Tools Integration Ansible Developer (25-218) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position, located in Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO., plays a crucial role in our mission to support the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier globally and regionally. Networks integrate and synchronize autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

Develop, deploy, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and modules to automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments. Design and implement secure automation workflows, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity best practices and industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS). Integrate Ansible with CI/CD pipelines, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and on-premises systems to enable seamless end-to-end automation.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and optimize infrastructure for scalability, resilience, and security
  • Conduct security assessments of automation scripts and infrastructure configurations to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities
  • Document automation processes, integration workflows, and security protocols to support knowledge sharing and compliance
  • Stay current with emerging Ansible features, cybersecurity threats, and integration technologies to recommend innovative solutions
  • Collaborating with local Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity standards and regulations
  • Working with various C2BMC teams to ensure compatibility and seamless integration of Cyber Tools within the larger system
  • Documentation and verification of all installation and configuration steps for the labs and operations deliveries
  • Providing feedback to Cyber Leadership and engineers to improve the cybersecurity tools and processes
  • A strong understanding of cybersecurity standards and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration
  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving

Salary range in Colorado Springs: $137,400 - $206,000
Salary range of Huntsville: $144,200 - $216,400
