JOB TITLE: EHS Manager

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager EHS

TRAVEL: Up to 50% 

RELOCATION:

Commitment to the EHS leadership development path, which requires a willingness to relocate to a field site upon being placed in an available EHS Manager role.

This position will work as a developing EHS leader, partnering with the Senior EHS Manager to establish and implement prevention-focused environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across the organization. In collaboration with the Food Safety department, this individual will support food safety processes, audits, corrective actions, and training programs. The role will split time between supporting the corporate Support Center with safety and compliance and routinely traveling to company locations to gain critical operational experience. This individual will aid sites in driving EHS and food safety initiatives, conduct audits, and execute training programs, ensuring preparedness and adherence to AWG’s overall EHS objectives. This role is a direct path to an EHS Manager position in the field.

SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Senior Manager EHS in implementing EHS strategy in support of Corporate EHS strategic goals.
  • Support the Corporate Office as acting as the site Safety Manager for the support center
  • Support site management in the implementation of EHS plans
  • Assist in developing and implementing training programs to promote a positive safety culture and to adhere to compliance goals
  • Conduct routine audits to track and identify gaps in compliance policies and procedures
  • Participate in a system to identify and evaluate hazards (risks), and implement effective controls (corrective solutions)
  • Participate in incident investigation process, including cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans
  • Interface with regulatory bodies as needed (OSHA, DOT, EPA, and State/Local Regulators)
  • Review and assist with the completion of a company-wide annual EHS training plan
  • Conduct routine compliance audits and aid in the development of corrective actions
  • Develop effective interdepartmental relationships
  • Assist facilities management team in ensuring required regulatory permits are acquired, required reports are submitted to regulatory agencies and any site permit conditions (e.g. recordkeeping, PSM, storm water, special waste, etc.) are met
  • Display strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader
  • Create and facilitate EHS engagement through safety committees needed to accomplish the established targets and annual objectives
  • Drive and promote zero incident EHS culture throughout the company
  • Support execution of AWG’s Emergency Preparedness Plan procedures and policies
  • Monitor, interpret and communicate regulatory changes to management
  • Assist with the development and presentation of Corporate and site-specific training programs as needed
  • Interprets, trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures
  • Maintains associate relations through regular department meetings, maintains on-going interaction and communication, monitors associate morale, and responds to and implements ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement

FOOD SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with the support center food safety team to periodically review all food safety procedures and instructions, to ensure they remain current and that the organization remains in compliance with government agencies
  • Ensure the promotion of awareness pertaining to food safety throughout the organization
  • Partner with the support center food safety team to assist in performing and tracking the internal food safety audit program – select internal audit personnel, conduct internal audits, review results of food safety audits, ensure that corrective actions are understood, and ensure corrective actions take place 
  • Support division sanitation programs by understanding and holding sites accountable for compliance when at distribution centers
  • Conduct and supervise hazard analysis, report results of analyses to top management, and periodically review food safety-related processes to ensure hazards are accounted for and controlled
  • Compile reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and steps taken to resolve deficiencies
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies

PERFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Hands-on environmental and safety experie
