Your role:

 

At MilliporeSigma, as the Manufacturing Supervisor – Night Shift, at our Dekalb facility/ 3500 Dekalb Street, St. Louis, you will oversee the off-shift operations of 24/5 (Sunday night-Friday Day) large-scale protein manufacturing in a Process Safety Management (PSM) environment.   You will lead a team of scientists and operators to manufacture products according to established protocols while following the site safety and quality guidelines.

 

  • Shift is from Sunday – Thursday  6:30pm – 3:00am
  • Maintain a regimented schedule to meet product release deadlines
  • Support the floor operations when needed
  • Set metrics for the team based on the department and site goals
  • Understand and follow budgetary guidelines
  • Interface across departments to accomplish tasks
  • Review final assays and procedures to ensure products are meeting the quality guidelines
  • Write and modify SOPs or product processes consistent with quality guidelines and review other procedures as requested
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Take the necessary action to resolve any unsafe conditions through proper escalation and seeking support
  • Evaluate the risks and cost effectiveness to the supply chain
  • Independently investigate, identify current inefficiencies and implement improvements
  • Train personnel and act as a technical lead.
  • Perform and interpret analytical evaluations of products
  • Maintain a high throughput overnight as part of 24 hour operations

 Physical Attributes:

  • Lift, push, pull or move up to 50 lbs
  • Wear appropriate PPE such as masks, safety shoes, protective gloves, safety goggles

 

Who You Are:

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a life science discipline (e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering)  with 3+ years of life science manufacturing leadership  

OR

  • High school diploma or GED with 5+ years of life science manufacturing leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

​​​​​​​

  • Knowledge in chemistry or biochemistry, math and general science
  • Familiar with laboratory instruments and large-scale production equipment (reactors, pumps, large tanks, centrifuge, filter press, etc.)
  • Safe chemical handling methods.
  • Communication skills, oral and written.
  • Computer skills; Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Mechanical and Troubleshooting skills.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Laboratory and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality standards and Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Operational Excellence methodologies
  • General understanding of business finance practices
