The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
This role is in the Advanced Materials Division, supporting the Glass Bubbles business. As a Manufacturing Engineer in Business Supply Chain, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Optimizing new manufacturing processes and documenting through tools such as FMEA, Value Stream Maps, Cost Analysis, and others
- Coordinate with sourcing to validate vendor qualification and inventory plan details while ensuring raw materials meet technical requirements
- Develop Manufacturing Data Packages for New Product Development to ensure seamless transition to scaled production
- Acting as a liaison between the technical development team and manufacturing roles (EHS, production, transportation, etc)
- Collaborating with research teams from Corporate Research and Business Labs to develop new technology, product, and manufacturing capabilities
- Identifying and leveraging external interactions to accelerate technology and product development
- Initiating and contributing to the development of Intellectual Property and IP strategies
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of combined experience in product development, process engineering, or manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Masters or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Polymer Science/Engineering from an accredited institution
- Previous experience scaling up technology
- Experience in analyzing and installing Capital Investments
- Demonstrated history of significant contributions to an organization through growth initiatives
- Collaborative interpersonal style with experience leading project teams
- Leadership and networking skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent technical presentation skills and oral communication skills
Work location: On-site at least 4 days per week at Maplewood, MN
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
