 We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The Certified Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use; mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow hood; types labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties.

  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Maintains inventory of supplies and reorders them accordingly. 

2. Assists in filling Pyxis. Automated dispensing and storage system (ADS).

3. Processes records of medications and supplies dispensed to patients or customers, computes charges and either enters them into the computer or forwards them to Information Systems.

4. Assists the Pharmacist in providing medication, drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel.

5. Aids in the training of Pharmacy Technician students or new employees.

6. Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and quality improvement activities.

7. Assists the Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly. Must be able to identify and understand that there are dosage variations between newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, and will consult with the Pharmacist if any doubts or questions arise.

8. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

9. Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filing various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations.

10. Recognizes inappropriate dosing based in available dosage forms for various age groups.


Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduate or equivalent. 
  • One (1) year related pharmacy experience and graduate of certified training pharmacy technician school. 
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician in the State of Idaho required. 
  • Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to the geriatric population obtained either in school education, experience or subsequent training. 
  • Appropriate certificates or licenses required for the position.
