Job Description:

The Manager of Student Impact for First Year Experience, College Readiness, and Mentoring within the Division of Engagement, Civil Rights & Title IX contributes to the creation of a vibrant campus environment developing high-impact experiences for students through the planning and implementation of student engagement programs related to first year experience, college readiness and mentoring. 

Job Responsibilities

25% - Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of first-year experience, college readiness and mentoring opportunities for students within the Engagement Centers. Coordinate and support existing programs including orientation, transition initiatives and peer mentoring programs. Design and implement new first-year experience programs, college readiness and mentoring programs for students. 

20% - Consult with offices and academic units to support programming efforts campus-wide and across the LSU System to advance student success with a focus on first-year experience, college readiness and mentoring opportunities for students.  

15% - Collaborate with the Engagement Centers, campus partners, student organizations, alumni, and external stakeholders to promote first year experience, career readiness and mentoring opportunities for students. 

15% - Collaborate with the Director of Assessment and Accountability, Director of Learning and Development, and Director of Institutional Engagement and Partnership to conduct continual program improvement through assessment, research of best practices, and critical observations and evaluation of student trends.

10% - Support and manage first-year, college readiness and mentoring programs including the Genesis Mentoring Program. Assist with program execution and evaluation. Identify, select, and train Genesis Mentors and Mentees to support an impactful mentoring experience for students. Represent the Division of Engagement, Civil Rights & Title IX and the Office of Engagement & Impact at college readiness and mentoring campus events and meetings as needed.

10% - Support and manage University First-Gen efforts including the First Gen Network membership, First Gen Week and other initiatives to foster community among first-gen students. Represent the Division of Engagement, Civil Rights & Title IX and the Office of Engagement & Impact at First-Gen campus events and meetings as needed. 

5% - Other duties as assigned

Additional Requirements

FERPA -As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Student Engagement & Impact. Willingness and ability to work some evening and weekend hours with responsibilities for meetings, administrative duty, special event coordination, and/or extended hours during peak programming periods to support student programs and events. Some travel may be required for professional development or to attend conferences and meetings.

Qualifications

Minimum: Education - Bachelors with 3 years of related experience

Preferred: Education - Masters with 3 years of related experience

Specific Degree - Higher Education, Human Resource Development, Student Affairs, Social Work, Sociology, or Interdisciplinary Studies
