Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a GME Compliance Specialist in Hyde Park. This position is a Hybrid opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
The GME Compliance Specialist coordinates the administrative details of the obtaining and maintaining medical licensure for the 1,000+ physicians under the institutional GME umbrella. Primary administrative contact with the National Resident Matching Program. Requires an extensive working knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements and processes. Interacts on a daily basis with the Housestaff Compliance Specialist serving as the designated institutional intermediary with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
Essential Job Functions
- Coordinates and conducts internal audits and self-assessments for GME programs.
- Maintains databases and ensures residency tracking system remains accurate.
- Tracks and reports compliance metrics to GME leadership and identifies areas for improvement.
- Serves as a liaison with program coordinators and GME stakeholders to ensure consistent interpretation and application of compliance requirements.
- Receives inquiries from stakeholders and triages as necessary within the department, and/or in other departments or hospitals.
- Identifies and evaluates the methods for improving workflow and cost effectiveness, and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation related to GME compliance standards.
- Develops and delivers compliance, operational, programmatic, and departmental materials for stakeholders.\Assists in the preparation for Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) site visits and internal reviews.
- Assists with coordination of GME-wide processes and events including, but not limited to licensure, onboarding, off-boarding, accreditation compliance, QIPS initiatives, etc.
- Stays current with regulatory updates from ACGME, AAMC, NRMP, and other governing bodies
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required. BS degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years prior regulatory experience supporting ACGME-accredited programs
- Minimum 5 years increasing administrative experience.
- Prior experience with or understanding of, the process for physicians applying to a GME program is preferred.
- Proven ability to plan, organize and work on various tasks concurrently and meet ongoing deadlines and schedules.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be detail oriented and able to independently and professionally interact with stakeholders, both internal and external to the Hospitals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office required. Prior experience with GME-specific programs (e.g., MedHub, New Innovations) is preferred.
