Job Description:
PURPOSE:
The Coordinator is responsible for the management of ADA/504 accommodations and disability services for the university, as well as supporting the institution’s early alert, student intervention, and student support systems. This position plays a critical role in assisting students experiencing academic, personal, or crisis-related challenges and connecting them to appropriate campus and community resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADA / Disability Services
- Serve as the campus ADA Coordinator, including review, approval, and implementation of accommodations for students and employees.
- Develop, implement, and maintain ADA/504 program policies, procedures, and services.
- Maintain current knowledge of emerging issues and changes to ADA law and best practices.
- Act as an ADA liaison between faculty, staff, Human Resources, and other campus support departments.
- Coordinate and administer the ADA registration, documentation review, and accommodation processes for students.
Student Support Services & LSUA CARES (Early Alert System)
- Serve as a key point of contact for LSUA CARES referrals and students of concern.
- Meet with students struggling with academic, personal, social, or behavioral matters to provide guidance, coaching, and support.
- Conduct outreach to campus departments to encourage appropriate LSUA CARES submissions and promote early intervention for students in need.
- Maintain familiarity with campus and community resources to connect students with appropriate assistance.
- Participate in case management processes and collaborate with campus partners to ensure coordinated support for students of concern.
- Maintain University Hunger-Free Campus designation, including overseeing communication regarding SNAP benefits and campus-wide messaging about basic needs
Campus Education & Outreach
- Provide educational programming and sessions to faculty, staff, and students on ADA accommodations and student support systems.
- Develop outreach materials promoting LSUA CARES and early alert processes.
Student Conduct Support (as assigned)
- Assist with student conduct processes, including holding Educational Conferences with students.
- Serve as Chair for Conduct Panels when needed and ensure adherence to university policies.
Other Duties
- Support additional student engagement or student success initiatives as assigned.
- Complete required institutional reports and maintain records in accordance with university policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience or knowledge of ADA/504 accommodations in a university environment preferred.
- Experience working in student support, counseling, disability services, or related student affairs areas strongly preferred.
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, including interpersonal and sensitive student situations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and outside agencies.
- Strong organizational, case-management, and documentation skills.
Hours:
Eight (8) hours per day, Monday–Friday (40 hours per week). Additional hours as needed.
