Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Geologist or Environmental Scientist for employment in our Charlotte, North Carolina office to support soil and groundwater investigations and remediation projects. The ideal candidate will be willing and able to learn new skills and methods on challenging field and office assignments in a collaborative team environment.
Candidate will gain experience in their discipline through learning on the job and participating in development opportunities enabling professional growth and development. Candidate will complete field tasks, including site investigations, drilling oversight, soil and groundwater sample collection, remediation system data collection, and related work. The candidate will also provide office support for data management, report preparation, and maintain the required AECOM-related documentation and forms.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting environmental field work, including soil logging, groundwater sampling, fluid level gauging and oversight of field surveys, drilling, well installation, development operations, and utility clearance for intrusive operations.
- Field document preparation and field data collection, processing, and interpretation.
- Supporting office tasks, including data analysis and report preparation.
- Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, and compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Travel to project locations including driving and overnight stays.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Soil Science, Environmental Science, or a closely related field.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous relevant work experience overseeing drilling operations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.

- Offered rate of compensation (North Carolina locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $43,480.10 - $60,000.00/yr.
