Position Overview
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversight of financial activities of the aggregate and asphalt business units for APAC Mississippi
- Prepare monthly financial statements ensuring all statements are properly analyzed and correctly stated.
- Review monthly financials with business unit manager, plant managers and senior management.
- Perform month-end closing activities-accruals, energy entries, production entries, inventory adjustments, royalty payments, depletion calculations, etc.
- Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts as required.
- Assist with DF3 monthly forecast process.
- Manage aggregate & asphalt production reporting process.
- Manage incoming materials and outgoing materials processes.
- Manage periodic physical inventory measurements, reconciliation, and adjustment processes.
- Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests.
- Compile/analyze financial data for multiple sources by way of Excel, Hyperion and Essbase
- Strict adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley and GAAP rules.
- Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets. This includes all SOX controls, AMAT and APAC accounting policies and procedures.
- Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
- Conducts presentations as necessary.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in accounting/finance functions
Proven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participant
Previous supervisory experience is a must
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
