Project Description:
- The Occupational Health and Safety intern will perform meaningful work in support of Xcel Energy, Corporate Safety. The selected individual will take an active role supporting the Corporate Safety Programs. Written program revision and development, risk assessments, exposure monitoring, reporting/corrective action plans and other Occupational Health and Safety programs as opportunities occur.
- The selected individual may use exposure measurement devices, identify employee/contractor exposures, assist in implementation of control measures (i.e., PPE, engineering controls...) and conduct Safety & Health related training.
- The Health and Safety Intern will assist on enterprise project specific written programs, internal process, reporting, management software applications, and other related opportunities.
This position is for a May 2025. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel’s business needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Current student, Junior, Sophomore and Senior status (as of May 2025) or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Supply chain, advertising, marketing, safety and health, management, human resources, training, labor relations, public relations, government relations, business administration, legal and regulatory compliance and similar.
- Able to commute to one of the offices in Denver, CO (Material Distribution Center, Lipan Distribution Center, Boulder Service Center, or corporate office)
- Able to work full-time (hybrid model) during the summer (up to 40 hours a week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Management Information Systems or Occupational Safety undergraduate studies
- Configuration of SharePoint, MS Office Suite.
