The Senior Financial Aid Specialist is responsible for reviewing and adjusting aid to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria; processing PLUS loans, private loans, professional judgement requests, and verification documents; and advising to students and parents.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

 

Review and Process Aid Status Change Reports:

  • Review reports to ensure compliance with federal regulations such as over-awards, Pell LEU issues, loan limit issues, CFLAGs, etc., and adjust budgets and awards as needed.
  • Review and adjust budgets and aid based on changes in enrollment during the schedule change (drop/add) period.
  • Review and process aid adjustment requests such as housing status changes, additional loan requests, part-time adjustments, etc.
  • Contact other schools regarding students’ Pell or loan payments for concurrent enrollment. 

Manage PLUS Loan Program:

  • Review PLUS Loans ready for processing.
  • Post PLUS Loan to student accounts.
  • Review PLUS Loan Application for endorsers.
  • Review and resolve PLUS Loan discrepancy reports.
  • Disseminate Bio/Demo and Address Conflict reports to Processors for resolution.

Manage the Alternative Loan Program:

  • Determine eligibility for Alternative Loans.
  • Review certification through ELM database.
  • Resolve all discrepancies related to Alternative Loans.
  • Collaborate with Scholarship Unit in reconciliation of Alternative Loans.

Process Professional Judgments and Review Verifications:

  • Review and adjust FAFSA data based on changes to income, marital status, number in college, and other approved expenses. 
  • Assist our Call Center with questions about the FAFSA data verification process.

Maintain current knowledge of federal/state regulations and institutional policy. Assist department with creating and improving office processes and policies. Includes but is not limited to:

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the financial aid policy and procedures manual. 
  • Coordinate with other offices on campus, such as Billing, Registrar, Admissions, etc.
  • Attend financial aid workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Technology Services.

Technology Unit Customer Service:

  • Correspond with students and parents by phone, email, and chat.
  • Occasionally assist the financial aid call center as an on-call advisor.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

 

Qualifications and Skills

 
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of financial aid office experience.
 Salary and Benefits
