About the role

Job Summary:

BDO is seeking a manager-level professional with a strong background in leading business process improvement initiatives and performing financial and data analysis. The Manager, Public Sector contributes to project delivery for civilian federal agencies, focusing on areas such as Operational Business Processes, Change Management, Data Analysis, and Business Process Improvement. The individual in this role will work closely with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document business processes. This includes mapping business processes in Visio and presenting recommendations to innovate processes. This position will be responsible for managing large datasets and developing dashboards in excel. The ideal candidate will have at least two (2) years of experience with banks or credit unions, specifically performing and supporting activities such as lending, underwriting, or managing credit risk.

Job Duties:

  • Provides business process improvement support, such as developing or updating existing policies, procedures, user guide documents, and modernizing forms using industry best practices
  • Utilizes advanced Excel functions and formulas to manipulate and analyze large datasets
  • Assists with performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of financials
  • Generates data driven dashboards for key stakeholders with minimal guidance
  • Provides training support to colleagues on process improvement methodologies and tools
  • Communicates with key client personnel to ensure a shared understanding of business operations, processes, and functions
  • Supports or leads task areas while coordinating closely with engagement team management and client leadership on strategy, planning, execution, status, and review processes
  • Adapts to a changing client environment while meeting client expectations
  • Manages priorities and works effectively to initiate correspondence and task completion, and supports multiple efforts through flexible multi-task coordination
  • Applies fundamental industry knowledge and standards to support client reviews, improvements, and/or implementations
  • Prepares presentations, briefings, and reports actively participates in client meetings and day-to-day interactions
  • Communicates with team management through effective status reporting and demonstrates ownership and accountability for assigned task areas and work products
  • Establishes professional rapport with clients and other organizations
  • Independently evaluates work products for technical accuracy, deliverable quality, and overall value to the client
  • Ensures contractual obligations are met; adheres to applicable standards, laws, policies, and regulations
  • Delivers a full range of services that uses their educational background, experience, and organizational skills while serving BDO’s dynamic public sector client base
  • Assists with firm practice, solution, and business development initiatives
  • Attends relevant training, business seminars, and/or conferences to stay current with technical skills that align with client’s needs and changes in the industry
  • Supports recruiting efforts by identifying potential candidates and participating in interviews
  • Supports business development meetings and/or proposal development processes with guidance from Public Sector Practice leadership
  • Researches industry and market trends and develops relevant presentations and materials in support of potential firm initiatives
  • Cultivates growth of existing and new business
  • Other duties as required

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates the performance of any Public Sector direct reports and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
  • Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes the annual performance evaluation for Public Sector staff as appropriate 
  • Serves as a mentor / career advisor to Public Sector staff as appropriate

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; with a focus in Business or Finance, preferred

Experience:

  • Five (5) or more years of accounting, finance, business, or operations experience, required 
  • Experience supporting federal government agencies with internal control program support, financial management support, program and project management, or related fields, required
  • Five (5) or more years supporting federal government agencies, preferred
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with banks or credit unions, specifically performing and supporting activities such as lending, underwriting,
