Key Position Details:

  • FTE 0.6 (48 hours per two week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shift
  • No weekends, holidays, or evenings
  • Orientation will include team rotation to build awareness and shared knowledge.
  • This position will float to the Allina Health Cancer Institute at Centennial Lakes Clinic on an as-needed basis and offers future opportunities for increased FTE.
  • Days off will be coordinated among the team; however, the primary scheduled workdays will be Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, with flexibility to cover PTO and unexpected absences.

Job Description:

Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. This includes establishing an intentional therapeutic relationship between a registered nurse and a patient and family. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating and evaluating the patient’s care needs.

Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for medical, surgical or radiation oncology patient populations in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. Delivers high-quality care in a dynamic and complex environment. Committed to advancing the Allina Health Cancer Institute through the integration of evidence-based practice initiatives.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Assessment, Diagnosis, Outcome Identification, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation
    • Manages patient care with clinic encounters by utilizing a systematic approach to nursing practice that includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary oncology care team members, along with internal and external ancillary partners, in a demanding environment.
  • Dedicated to the growth and development of the Allina Health Cancer Institute, incorporating evidence-based practice initiatives that align with regulatory and organizational standards of care (ONS, NCCN, COC, etc.).
  • Nursing is the diagnosis and treatment of human response to actual or potential health problems. As a leader and the integrator of care, the professional nurse has the responsibility, authority, and accountability for planning, coordinating, and evaluating the patient’s care needs.
  • Focuses on patients receiving care in a specialized outpatient (inpatient-rad/onc. only) care setting, playing a critical role in coordination and delegation of care. Individuals in this role will work in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • May support the team as a preceptor when assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree Accredited School of Nursing
  • 1+ years inpatient or outpatient oncology nursing experience, or if no oncology experience must have 2+ years nursing experience in an ambulatory or hospital care setting


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree Accredited School of Nursing
  • 2+ years Chemotherapy experience (for Medical Oncology RN positions)


Licenses/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required
  • Licensed Registered Nurse - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required upon hire if providing care to patients over the phone, through e-visits, virtual visits, or medical messages and the patient is in Wisconsin at the time of the care
  • For Radiation Oncology Clinic, St. Paul Campus: Specialty Certification within 18 months required
  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below:
