Summary
Provide work direction to ensure that daily responsibilities of staff technologists are properly delegated. Performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images. Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures.Job Description
Provides for patient care and initiates life support measure as necessary. Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers.
Possesses the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans as well as the ability to perform related procedures and protocols. Has the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees. Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care. On a continuum, the CT technologist works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status. Works well with all age groups.
Qualifications
Completion of an educational program and clinical experience accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program is required.One year experience as a staff CT technologist preferred.
Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required (ARRT). Computerized Tomography (CT) certified required. If possession of CT Certification is not held at time of hire, leadership may allow a grace period of six months to obtain at time of hire for external candidates. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) is required. If working in the state if Iowa, must possess permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
