Position Summary:

FCC Placer Sr Operations Manager is a role that manages key aspects of the Placer post collections operations including but not limited to Landfill, Material Recovery Facility, Construction & Demolition, Compost, and transportation operations. Sr Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manger and works with the compliance and operations managers to ensure all regulatory and operational requirements are met.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages safety of operations and meeting monthly safety metrics.
  • Responsible for managing department leaders to achieve monthly targets.
  • Establishes and manages long term-goals that adhere with Company goals and standards.
  • Manages positive relationships with operational employees to boost site moral and efficiency.
  • Assist in negotiating business terms directly with large waste generators, waste haulers, brokers, etc.
  • Establish, implement, and manage a strong safety culture amongst all employees.
  • Manage the transportation and logistics functions for collection route operations.
  • Plan, assign, and review work of subordinate staff.
  • Complete complex work assignments and establish work schedules.
  • Prepare reports related to company and contractual obligations.
  • Ability to work independently to meet critical deadlines and coordinate crucial activities.

Required Experience:

  • Experience in managing post collections operations.
  • Vast understanding of all regulations for post collections in California.
  • Must have had previous experience managing MRF & Landfill operations with a capacity of over 50,000 tons per year in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated success in managing recycling plants and operations. Knowledge of typical equipment used in recycling plants including but not limited to balers, sorting equipment (screens, pit conveyors, glass processing equipment, eddy currents, IR equipment, magnets, etc). 
  • Experience managing a fleet of solid waste or recycling collection vehicles & equipment (front end loaders, roll-off, tractor trailer, flatbed, dozers, waste handlers, etc.)

Experience and Competencies:

  • Experience in managing vehicle fleets and recycling equipment.
  • Waste management experience in post collections.
  • Minimum of five years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing a large post collection operation.
  • Previous experience managing solid waste in California.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Pay: 130k

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree a plus, or High School diploma and combination of work experience
