New Horizons is the largest mental health and addiction recovery provider on the Treasure Coast (and beyond), serving 15,000 children and adults annually through inpatient crisis services, 24-hour help line and mobile response team, and outpatient programs conveniently located across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie counties. In addition, New Horizons assists 22,000 students in area schools, and we work closely with the courts, law enforcement, jails, and hospitals to help improve the health of individuals and the quality of life in our community.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, developmental history and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living; and family structure and relationships
- Provide on-going assessment of youth's mental illness and substance use disorder, if present, and behavioral issues and the youth and families' response to treatment
- Provide treatment, counseling, therapeutic mentoring, training or coordination in parenting skills, behavioral modification, family education, and family support network development, behavior management, sober living or relapse presenting skills development, with some interventions directed or performed by staff with specialty training and skills
- Prepares written documentation for each service conducted
- Serve as an agency liaison with DCF, DJJ and other community agencies for coordinating referrals and organizing community presentations.
Requirements
New Horizons will need you to have the following qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a Human Services field
- Florida license in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, or Psychology and experience working with mentally ill/emotionally disturbed/chemically dependent populations
- Must have substance abuse treatment experience
