OurCriticalCareAdvanced PracticeProviders(APP)workincollaborationwithcriticalcareattending physicianstomanagepatients inSpecialty IntensiveCareUnits.

Responsibilitiesincludephysical assessmentandmanagementofabroad rangeofcritical illnesses;performingandassistingwithcommoncritical careprocedurestoinclude insertion of vascularcathetersforcentral venousaccess,dialysis,arterial line placement and monitoring, endotrachealintubation.Clinicaldutiesencompass comprehensivecareofthecriticallyillpatient startingwithinitialresuscitationandmanagement,continuing withthecoordinationofclinicalcarebetweenintensivistteamsandmultiple consultingteams,counseling patientsandtheirfamiliesonthedetails oftheirillness, careanddecision makingprocess,concludingwithpatients/familypreparationfordischargefromtheICU.OurAPPsserveasleadersincollaboration andeducationforalldisciplinesoftheICUstaffincludingnursing,respiratorytherapy, pharmacy,physicaltherapy andnutritionservices.

OurAPPcriticalcare servicesworkinparallel withACGMEaccreditedresidencyandfellowshiptrainingprograms, with opportunitiesforcooperationandsharingofresourcesandeducation.

This position will be credentialed at the following Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Campuses: Winston-Salem, Lexington, and High Point campuses.

Candidatesmustpossess thefollowingQualifications:

1. Graduation fromanaccredited Acute CareNP program or accredited PAProgram
2. Licensedby theNC Board ofNursingorNC MedicalBoardofExaminers
3. Excellentinterpersonalskills
4. Excellentoralandwrittencommunicationsskills
5. CurrentAmerican HeartAssoc.BLSandACLSPreviouscriticalcareexperienceispreferred.

What You'll Do:

As a valued member of our healthcare team, the PA/ACNP will play a key role in team-focused patient care, conducting thorough examinations and evaluations in medical/surgical settings. Responsibilities include:

• Using medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan.
• Collaborate with critical care physicians in Specialty Intensive Care Units.
• Perform physical assessments and manage a broad range of critical illnesses.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
• Conduct common critical care procedures:
  • Insertion of central venous catheters
  • Dialysis
  • Arterial line placement and monitoring
