About the role

Purpose:  

The Category Manager, Water Systems and Capabilities is responsible for building and owning the new product development and go-to-market strategy for their respective divisions as well as managing and overseeing the performance of their existing portfolios.  This person will report to a Director of Product Marketing and will have significant interaction with senior leadership across Delta, highlighting the level of influence and collaboration.  In this role you will not only develop yourself for future leadership positions, but you will coach and develop a team of product managers.  You will be at the forefront of product development and innovation that can change the lives of our consumers!

Nature & Scope:

This position establishes the scope of the product offering in terms of price points, features and benefits within the context of the brand strategy and competitive set with a focus on Water Systems, Bundling and Recommerce.  They aim to ensure financial targets are met through the conception/prioritization of new product development, value engineering initiatives, and advanced development needs.  This individual serves a key role as liaison between Sales/Channel/Brand/Service Operations and NPD teams.  Importantly, accountability for this position spans all channels (Retail, Wholesale, and eBusiness), underscoring the breadth of responsibilities. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Build out a comprehensive water systems product portfolio by establishing scope of the product offerings in terms of price points, features, and benefits within the context of the brand strategy and competitive set.
  • Actively explore and cultivate new business opportunities.
  • Bring meaningful innovation to continue to differentiate from competitors.
  • Serve as a category leader with a core competency and knowledge of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and sourcing strategies.
  • Prioritize the NPD pipeline of projects to ensure launches meet both the business needs and market expectations.
  • Instill knowledge and passion of Water Systems into DFC.
  • Coach and develop their people in a manner that models and reinforces the leadership behaviors and values of DFC.
     

Education and Experience/Skills:

  • B.S. in a business or engineering-related field (MBA desirable)
  • 5+ years of practical marketing/product development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills, highly developed communication skills, and solid design sense. 
  • Demonstrated ability to objectively analyze data and experience building products and channels. 
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Well-developed understanding of sales and marketing strategies. 
  • Travel up to 40% may be required
  • This position may require international travel 2-3 times per year
  • The ideal candidate would be located in the Indianapolis area, but remote / hybrid working options will be considered.
