Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Software Systems Engineering Teams provide functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software operating/automation systems, including, but not limited to, utility, development, and diagnostic software. They perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost, risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
The Software Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development of embedded software. Primarily for ARM-based STM32 microprocessors. They will also be responsible for implementing hardware drivers, interfaces, abstractions, state machines, advanced signal processing algorithms, application modules and unit tests for devices supervising medium voltage distribution grids. They will have continuous active involvement in architectural design decisions and evaluations.
A background in electronics and/or electrical energy distribution would be an advantage.

- Requirements elicitation through interaction with colleagues, customers, product managers and other stakeholders
- Designing new concepts for distributed information exchange and processing
- Turning concepts into maintainable, high-quality code
- Troubleshooting our CI/CD pipeline
- Documentation
- Implementing appropriate automation tools such as auto-generators
- Impact analysis for bug reports and change requests
- Bug fixes and backporting those fixes to older software versions
- Design and modify software and (sub-)systems architecture
- Design module architecture to tie in with existing legacy environments
- Mentor colleagues
- Integrate software modules into larger software projects
- Support colleagues in the design of hardware-in-the-loop system tests
- Document software features for end users
- Fault analysis
- Provide expert input for customer service requests
- Make changes to our existing (legacy) codebase
- Contribute to our internal “continuing education” workshops
- Attend trade fairs, conferences, workshops to further our level of excellence
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- 5+ years experience in Software Engineering.
- Master in Software Engineering / Computer Science / Electrical engineering
- Advanced skills in C and C++
- Advanced skills in embedded software engineering
- A background in electronics and/or electrical energy distribution would be an advantage.
- Proven interest in power grids would be an advantage.
- Fluent level of English written and spoken, advanced level of German written and spoken.
