Position Overview

As the Principal Application Architect for Payments Technology, you will be a visionary leader who designs the future of our Payments Application Ecosystem, powering the growth of our rapidly growing $1 billion business.  You will be responsible for setting the architectural vision and developing a multi-year strategy to drive engineering teams to execute on that vision.  You will work in close collaboration with Product and Business leadership to align your modernization plans with business outcomes, balancing existing application maintenance with iterative and demonstrable progress on new development.  You will have opportunities to dive into the design of our data and business logic layers but will primarily focus on crafting exceptional customer-facing solutions – shaping GraphQL APIs, designing micro apps and micro frontends, and architecting event-driven experiences that are fast, scalable, and intuitive.

What You’ll Do

Architect the Future

• Design and architect modern, scalable application suites across distributed systems using cloud-native principles.

• Lead the development of micro frontends, modular applications, and service-based backends with technologies like GraphQL and event-driven architecture.

• Build reference architectures and patterns that make intelligent use of multi-cloud native services to drive performance, resilience, and scalability.

• Optimize system designs to balance cost, performance, security, and compliance.

• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies, lead POCs, and make forward-thinking recommendations that improve business agility and outcomes.

Drive Alignment Across Teams

• Partner with Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure, and Platform teams to drive consistent and successful proje
