Role Overview
We are looking for a Process & Control Automation Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced automation and control systems for industrial applications. In this role, you will be responsible for programming PLCs, developing SCADA and HMI solutions, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and supporting on-site system commissioning and training. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in industrial automation, instrumentation, and process control, with extensive experience in PLC programming and drive systems integration.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Commissioning: Engineer and implement automation and control solutions for industrial processes, ensuring smooth start-ups and optimal performance.
- PLC & Drive Integration: Program and integrate PLC systems, drive systems, and combustion controls to meet operational requirements.
- SCADA & HMI Development: Create and enhance SCADA and operator interface applications to improve system monitoring and control capabilities.
- Custom Interface Programming: Develop and manage databases along with custom programs to support seamless PLC-SCADA integration.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical and electrical components, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Documentation & Schematics: Produce detailed electrical schematics and project documentation using AutoCAD.
- Project Management: Develop scopes of work, prepare cost estimates, and manage budgets for automation and electrical projects.
- Industry Expertise: Gain and apply knowledge in areas such as fluid systems, metallurgy, material handling, and furnace operations.
- On-Site Support: Provide on-site commissioning support and conduct training sessions for customers.
- Technical Leadership: Lead technical discussions, deliver presentations, and assist with system startups.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the chemical or manufacturing sectors.
- Hands-on expertise with industrial processing equipment, instrumentation, AC & DC drive systems, PLCs, and combustion controls.
- In-depth familiarity with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and drive systems.
- Proficient in AutoCAD for creating electrical schematics and related documentation.
- Experience developing SCADA systems and HMI applications.
- Strong skills in programming, networking, and database management.
- Ability to serve as a subject matter expert in automation and control systems.
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 40%.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC-5, ControlLogix, Siemens S7, TIA Portal, HMI, and SCADA software platforms.
- Background in chemical processing or industrial control system environments.
