ChristianaCare is currently seeking a Part-Time Service Assistant I to join our Food & Nutrition Services team at our Newark campus. In this role, you will support patient meal services through tray assembly, dish room operations, sanitation, and other essential kitchen duties.

Work Schedule:

Must be available between 6:00 AM and 9:30 PM to work a variety of rotating part-time shifts, including:

• 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 3:15 PM – 9:15 PM
• Occasional morning shift: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM

All candidates must be able to work a combination of the shifts listed above.
Every other weekend and holiday rotation is required.
Shift times may vary based on departmental needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Assemble patient meal trays accurately and efficiently, following dietary guidelines and portion control.
• Understand and prepare trays for modified diets, including special food and liquid consistencies.
• Operate and maintain dish machines, pot sinks, and sanitation stations.
• Follow proper cleaning, sanitizing, and safety procedures in all kitchen areas.
• Monitor and record dish machine temperatures and sanitizer pH levels.
• Maintain infection prevention standards, including proper food storage, labeling, and glove use.
• Demonstrate ChristianaCare’s core values of Excellence and Love in all interactions with patients, families, and team members.
• Report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors promptly.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to infectious materials, cleaning chemicals, and extreme temperatures (hot wells, refrigerators, freezers).
• Use of potentially hazardous equipment in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
