REPORTS TO: Area Director of Teen Services
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Full-time
PRIMARY LOCATION: Elise Manashe Teen Center
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Help us create an amazing club experience for teens by working together to cultivate a positive environment, implement high-quality youth development programs, and build healthy relationships with youth and families. Plan and manage the administration of programs and activities that prepare youth for success, incorporate key components, and assist them in developing skills, accessing opportunities, and fostering a sense of belonging. Maintain a caseload of 35-40 teens in a positive and intentional relationship focused on post-high school success as part of the College & Career Prep Program.
CASE MANAGEMENT
- Manage and recruit a caseload of 35-40 teens for the College & Career Prep Program.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with teens and families.
- Actively identify potential issues impacting a student's academic performance, such as learning disabilities, and connect to resources within schools and the community.
- Connect students to resources like tutoring, counseling, disability services, financial aid, career advising, and community organizations.
- Create and facilitate recognition and positive acknowledgment of youth’s milestones.
- Maintain College & Career Prep records related to mentoring meeting notes, youth’s academic records, academic and career exploration workshops, teen participation, notable achievements, and related field trips.
- Maintain confidential records.
- Collaborate with Clark College to implement the Penguin Promise Deliverables.
- Follow and implement the Incident Reporting Procedure.
- Conduct school visits and meet youth in caseload outside of Club when needed to ensure they meet academic and Penguin Promise goals and milestones.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMMING
- Collaborate with other Club leaders, teammates, and partners to plan and implement fun, intentional, high-quality programming for teens year-round.
- Provide Academic Support programming during Teen Club Hours.
- Develop curriculum and facilitate workshops around Life and Workforce Readiness, Academic Success, and Career Exploration.
- Plan and supervise college visits and career exploration field trips.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members and quality programs at all times.
- Collaborate with Teen Club staff, the Teen Club Director, and the Area Director of Teens to create programs, share information, and nominate teens for recognition and leadership opportunities.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Manage and build relationships with community partners in the fields of higher education, trades, and life skills (e.g., participate in community partner meetings such as high school curriculum nights, local college open houses, college fairs at local high schools, etc.).
- Communicate and collaborate with Club Directors, other College and Career Prep Mentors, school advisors, administrators, parents, and other support staff to ensure coordinated support for all youth at the Elise Menashe Teen Center.
- Participate and organize special programs and events with schools and community partners.
VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
- Coordinate with other Boys & Girls Clubs staff to plan and implement the recruitment of high school volunteers.
- Support the Teen Club Director with volunteer engagement events and supervision at Club.
