Role summary 

Flyhomes is looking to improve how it connects with its audiences, and aims to become a go-to resource for homebuyer and seller education. We are looking for a Director of content to lead the creation and execution of our content marketing strategy, and mentor and manage members of the content team. As a key member of the marketing team, reporting directly to the CMO, this person in this role will be responsible for defining the roadmap for our editorial content program, as well as crafting messaging that expresses our value props in a clear, compelling and actionable way that’s aligned with our brand. This position is a remote position and can be performed in any state Flyhomes operates in. We are open to hiring in the following states: AZ, CA, FL, IL, MA, NJ, OR, TX, UT, and WA. 

Role responsibilities 

  • Content Marketing and SEO: Define and build a content marketing strategy, focusing on capturing and educating target audiences and converting them into happy customers
    • Own the content creation and distribution strategy, including owned and paid content with an emphasis on organic growth 
    • Develop editorial guidelines and content pillars that sets an high standard for readership
    • Build partnerships with syndicate partners and content affiliates to create content that supports revenue growth and drives towards efficient acquisition goals
    • Work with the performance marketing team to develop organic growth goals, strategies and plans to drive awareness, understanding and engagement through content with an end goal of lowering overall CAC
    • Work with our life cycle marketing team to develop conversion-focused content and strategize on content-focused tactics to drive customer experience and engagement
    • Track, analyze, and regularly share updates on content performance and its impact on brand affinity, site traffic, pipeline and revenue to continually optimize our content marketing efforts
    • Stay on top of content and industry trends and experiment with new ways to deepen audience engagement with our brand 
  • Marketing Copy: Work collaboratively with our paid marketing and creative teams to develop and modify content for paid social, paid partnerships, SEO, and other campaigns.
    • Collaborate with our product, sales, and marketing teams to ensure that content is aligned with our product positioning and messaging
    • Build excellent relationships with teammates and stakeholders across projects
  • Manage: Hire and manage in-house and external talent to scale content initiatives as needed across our website, blog, marketing and product campaigns including external content channels
    • Establish frameworks that hold our content activities to high standards of clarity, effectiveness, quality, and style
    • Own the end-to-end content creation and review process
    • Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on editorial and content requests, education and collaboration - managing priorities and projects in-line with the business’ needs and goals

Role requirements 

  • 8+ years of content and/or editorial experience and leading a team to drive growth through content in a fast-paced environment.
  • 4+ years management experience  
  • Strong communication skills, from translating difficult messages across different audiences to presenting content data to the leadership team
  • Experience working with C-suite and managing up in fast-paced environments
  • Deep understanding of inbound marketing and content marketing strategy
  • Outcome-focused leadership style with the ability to drive your team towards clear business goals, while investing in their personal and professional growth
  • Ability to set strategies to impact leading indicator metrics in order to ultimately drive traffic and revenue growth
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Copyediting experience with best-in-class standards for editorial quality with immaculate attention to detail across all of your work
