Job Overview

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics (AEEM) at the University of Cincinnati, located in Cincinnati, Ohio invites applications for an open-rank non-tenure track Professor – Educator position to support its educational mission. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will be teaching Aerospace Engineering courses to CEAS undergraduate and/or graduate students at UC.  As part of the teaching responsibilities, the Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Educator will be expected to:

  • Serve as the instructor of record for courses such as but not limited to Thermodynamics and Energy Systems, Basic Fluid Mechanics and lab, and/or Modeling and Simulation of Physical Systems; create and deliver lectures; provide timely grading of materials, and other related duties associated with teaching
  • Serve on various Departmental and College Committees related to education, student success, and accreditation and others as deemed necessary at the direction of the Department Head
  • Participate in talks and tours of the College and Research Laboratories for prospective undergraduate students and parents, as well as involvement in College Undergraduate Open House events.

Minimum Requirements

Prior to effective date of the appointment, a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field is required.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics is the second-oldest aerospace engineering program in the country with well-established ties to the aerospace industry locally and nationally. The Department offers a fully ABET-accredited five-year B.S. degree in aerospace engineering with a mandatory coop program and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in both Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics. In addition, the Department has an Accelerated Engineering Degree (ACCEND) program where highly motivated students can get both B.S. and M.S. or B.S. and M.B.A. degrees in five years and a semester. The Department has research focus areas in Fluids, Combustion & Propulsion, Solids & Structural Dynamics and Controls & Dynamics.
