What you'll do...
The Campaign Prevent Specialist – Steering will minimize campaign occurrences on forward model programs through the campaign prevent process, improve design robustness and compliance with foundation documents/requirements through leading the technical design review process, and assist with facilitating reviews and decisions leading up to a field service action. For the Steering systems:
- Guide and manage the Technical Design Review process for all programs
- Lead integrating the campaign prevent and technical design review processes into one process where the separate bits complement each other. Ensure the process timeline and program schedule is current and followed.
- Be administrator and manage Steering area Jira project for capturing issues from Steering Technical Design Reviews. Includes providing JIRA training, adding/removing users, adding issues, closing issues, notifying individuals/teams when issue may go past due date, providing overall status to management, and tracking approximate number of Technical Design Review (TDRs) and support any KPI in WorkBoard associated with TDRs & issues.
- Conduct up front virtual and downstream hardware campaign prevent reviews
- Lead campaign prevent awareness sessions for Ford model programs.
- Conduct or supervise reviews (virtual and hardware fresh eyes) for all programs
- Raise and agree with closures of fresh eyes review AIMs issues.
- Lead Prevent Action Closure process for recalls and stop ships and manage the prevent recurrence process.
- Maintain and keep up to date campaign prevent templates and checklists.
- Monitoring the NHTSA and other recall sources for potential assessment in the prevent process
- Support development of 14D’s, Prevent Action Closure papers, and migration plans
- Participate in durability reviews
- Use experience in delivering designs into production, assist with proposing recommendations and assisting in training engineers with less experience on how to systematically deliver quality products on time to target.
- Support GEMBA Work Station Readiness reviews at all NA assembly plants.
- Update Steering portion of Chassis Vehicle Fresh Eyes Review check list annually.
- Update Chassis Systems Process Campaign Prevent check list annually.
- Support Steering Supplier plant reviews as needed.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or similar
- 5+ years of engineering experience in automotive/underbody systems engineering
- On-site support for collaboration required targeting 4 days per week.
- Position requires travel / travel to FNA assembly plants to support on-site fresh eyes reviews, launches, and resolution of issues.

- Master’s degree preferred
- 2+ years of steering engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering experience with understanding of GPDS deliverables and basic Ford engineering tools including Teamcenter and buck 3DX
- <PS> through launch experience
- Experience launching new vehicles
- Ability to handle complex tasks and challenging situations under compressed timing
- Experience communicating with senior leaders, design and release, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Outstanding planning, organizational and project management skills with proper follow-up to accomplish multiple objectives
- Strong One Ford Leadership Behaviors with demonstrated ability to drive and deliver results
- Effective coaching and mentoring skills
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills
- Ability to build strong effective relationships with cross functional teams (Foundation Chassis, Design and Release, Program Management, Vehicle Operations, and Suppliers)
