The 4 North Medical/Surgical Unit at Indian River Hospital sees a diverse population, offering medical attention for GI distress, respiratory issues, seizures and other symptoms. As an LPN on the team, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, top-quality care to a diverse patient population. In this role, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, all while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and numerous educational resources offered within the Cleveland Clinic system.
A caregiver in this position works days from 6:45AM – 7:15PM, with the ability to work 4 weekend shifts in a 6-week period.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Involve patient/family in the development of care plan.
Prioritize and perform direct care to patients.
Explain and document procedures and interventions.
Identify and perform appropriately in emergent situations.
Assist multidisciplinary team with all processes related to patient care.
Delegate responsibilities to staff based on patient needs and staff competencies.
Utilize and document patient safety restraints per hospital policy.
Perform all IV skills including starts according to unit policy.
Document medications on medication administration record (MAR).
Monitor patient's response to medications and reports appropriately.
Report medication errors and adverse reactions per hospital policy.
Demonstrate knowledge concerning medications, including side effects.
Develop plan based on educational assessment.
Provide patients with discharge instructions/education and facilitates a safe discharge.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the
