Lead Merchandising Collaboration Consultant

 

SUMMARY:

Spanning all 84.51° commercial solutions, the Merchandising Collaboration Consultant requires a passion for driving dual impact for both Kroger + commercial goals, organizing chaos and empowering execution, and leveraging data to influence strategy. You will specialize in either:

  • Merchandising-CPG, responsible for working directly with Kroger Merchandising to support our internal 84.51° commercial account teams in their work with suppliers to link to and drive growth within Kroger Merch’s stated priorities. As a member of this team, you will be specifically aligned to a set of Kroger merchandising Directors and their teams of category managers.  Success in this role will require consistent prioritization of opportunities, balancing multiple projects at once, strong Kroger stakeholder management, effective relationship development with 84.51° cross-functional teams, and strong attention to detail.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities and expectations may include, depending on specialty:

  • Merch-CPG focus areas:
    • Cross-team education, socialization and advocacy:
      • Integrate with Kroger merchandising team to clearly understand, articulate and socialize their department and category strategies in a way that our internal 84.51° commercial partners and their CPG clients can digest and act upon, maximizing their ability to support Kroger.
      • Educate merchandising on commercial priorities and reasons-to-believe in our existing key products and new product launches, so they can effectively advocate for them to CPGs
      • Translate key merchandising asks of CPGs into externally-sharable documentation that 84.51° commercial teams can easily and confidently socialize with clients, enabling us to evangelize Kroger

 

  • Client-Specific merchandising intervention:
    • Support preparation for and participate in quarterly JBP meetings, acting as a representative of the merchandising team and providing perspective on alt profit partnership
    • Respond to issues and opportunities when client partnership with 84.51° is below expectations, and partner with merchandising on the appropriate, unified response to drive flywheel benefit

 

  • Revenue opportunity identification:
    • Consult with Kroger to identify opportunities where additional insights are needed to support their broader strategy and work internally to coordinate delivery of Kroger-driven, multi-supplier projects
    • (Fresh) Consult with Kroger throughout bidding process to identify opportunities to secure KPM and Loyalty investment upfront from CPGs

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment that is a little unorthodox at times and will possess the following:

- 4-8 years of relevant experience: Category Management, Insights, Digital Media, or Loyalty Marketing

- Direct knowledge and experience with digital media/marketing activation and/or CPG/Retail Insights spaces

- Comfort operating in an ambiguous, dynamic environment

- Critical thinking and problem solving

- Proven stakeholder management/influencing skills

- Strong organizational skills and attention to details

- Strong business/commercial acumen

- Demonstrated ability to build and maximize relationships with both internal and external partners

- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

- Education:  Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred but not required)
