Akron General’s 2400/3100 Mother-Baby Unit provides compassionate, safe care to every mother and baby. Our specially trained nursing staff helps welcome more than 3,000 new babies into the world every year. We believe that by continually assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care based on evidence-based practice, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills, our caregivers provide safe, quality, expert and compassionate care. In addition to our highly qualified nurses, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and anesthesiologists are also available 24/7 in our unit.
A caregiver in this position works varying 4-hour shifts from 7:00AM – 11:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to RN (Registered Nurse).
Assist with keeping patients' rooms clean & orderly.
Demonstrate a positive, concerned, and sensitive response in the workplace.
Complete mandatory education and training to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Nursing student in good standing in an accredited nursing school program OR unlicensed graduate of an accredited nursing school program
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA)
Maintain competencies specific to patient population served
Satisfactorily complete hospital orientation
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Can perform basic clinical mathematics
Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff
