Job Summary
The Astrodynamics Team is responsible for conducting a range of modeling, simulation, and analyses in areas such as space mission design, trajectory design, orbital maneuvers, orbit estimation, space debris collision and avoidance analyses, and space domain awareness. Engineers in the Astrodynamics group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission design inputs, maneuver plans to meet mission objectives, as well as console support for on-orbit operations. They are directly responsible for determining the necessary capability of the satellite’s propulsion system and successfully maneuvering vehicles during flight operations. They oversee the orbital Concept-of-Operations (CONOPS) from inception to on-orbit operations, and through to end-of-life disposal.
As a Senior Astrodynamics Engineer, you will be a Subject Matter Expert for the Astrodynamics subsystem across many programs, studies, or proposals. You will oversee execution of technical design, analysis, and operation by the Astrodynamics Engineering team. You will support Astrodynamics Responsible Engineering Authorities (REAs) in project and technical management activities to support programs, ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time.
In addition to your engineering responsibilities, as an experienced member of the team you will be expected to set the engineering standard for the Astro team. You will define methods, tools, and processes to follow, and you will be accountable for the quality of the work coming from the group at large. You will be expected to mentor other members of the team and develop the next generation of Astrodynamics engineering talent.
