Lead/Senior Developer – AI/ML Platform

We're looking for an experienced lead developer who can help us build and scale our machine learning infrastructure to support and enable innovation in generative AI and MLOps.</p> <p><strong>About the Role</strong></p> <p>We are seeking a Lead Developer – AI/ML Platform to join our AI Engineering team, where you'll play a pivotal role in designing and building the foundation for our AI capabilities. This is a technical leadership position ideal for someone who combines deep hands-on expertise in ML infrastructure with the ability to mentor teams and make strategic technology decisions.</p> <p>You'll be instrumental in evolving our platform to support advanced AI capabilities including RAG patterns, model selection and evaluation, agent frameworks, and enterprise-scale observability—all while ensuring our solutions remain scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective.</p> <p><strong>What You'll Do</strong></p> <p><strong><i>Lead the development of the AI/ML platform that powers intelligent finance automation for enterprises worldwide.</i></strong></p> <p>You'll work closely with our ML Architect to bring Basware's next-generation AI infrastructure to life—leading the engineering team that builds the ecosystem enabling our global SaaS platform to leverage cutting-edge machine learning, large language models, and generative AI at scale.</p> <p>•<strong>Bring the vision to life – </strong>Partner with our ML Architect to translate architectural designs into robust, production-ready systems that support advanced capabilities like RAG patterns, intelligent agents, model evaluation frameworks, and real-time AI orchestration across our worldwide customer base</p> <p>•<strong>Lead LLM integration implementation – </strong>Drive the hands-on development of large language model integrations into our SaaS workflows, ensuring seamless AI-powered experiences that transform how global organizations process financial documents</p> <p>•<strong>Build for global scale – </strong>Implement cloud-native ML pipelines and orchestration systems that handle millions of transactions across multiple regions, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency</p> <p>•<strong>Enable the AI ecosystem – </strong>Develop the platform capabilities that empower data scientists and engineering teams across Basware to innovate rapidly—from model deployment and monitoring to capacity management and observability</p> <p>•<strong>Execute technical excellence – </strong>Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies in collaboration with the ML Architect, balancing cutting-edge capabilities with production-grade reliability to keep Basware at the forefront of AI-powered finance automation</p> <p>•<strong>Lead and mentor the team – </strong>Guide developers in implementing AI/ML solutions, champion best practices in MLOps and code quality, and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning</p> <p>•<strong>Bridge architecture and implementation – </strong>Collaborate closely with the ML Architect, data scientists, and product teams to ensure architectural decisions translate into scalable, maintainable solutions that deliver measurable value to global customers</p> <p>You'll have the autonomy to make technical implementation decisions while working with modern tools like AWS, MLOps platforms, LLM APIs, vector databases, and agent frameworks—all in service of building a world-class AI/ML platform.</p> <p>•5+ years of experience developing backend services and managing data-intensive systems</p> <p>•Strong proficiency in Python and backend technologies with solid software engineering fundamentals</p> <p>•Proven experience designing and implementing AI/ML platforms using AWS and MLOps tools (Databricks, MLflow, AWS Sagemaker or similar)</p> <p>•Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into Enterprise SaaS application workflows (LLM API endpoints, SDKs)</p> <p>•Good understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, database optimization, and ML model lifecycle management</p> <p>•Expertise in CI/CD practices, particularly with GitHub Actions, and experience with containerization (Docker)</p> <p>•Experience with serverless architectures and production-grade pipeline orchestration</p> <p>•Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor developers, and drive architectural decisions</p> <p>•Strong understanding of observability, capacity management, and cost-efficiency in ML systems</p> <p>•Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders</p> <p>•Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS software development highly appreciated</p> <p>•<strong>Preferred: </strong>Experience with Databricks for large-scale data processing</p> <p><strong>Experience with AI to
