Description

If so, join our Facilities team as a General Repair Worker where being a team player with an eye for detail is the key to success. In this role, you will help maintain our buildings and grounds both structurally and to maximize the aesthetic look of our campus buildings.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS 

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment with safety and economical operation. 
  • Maintain lock systems for the security of all buildings and rooms of the campus. 
  • Maintain all vehicles of the campus. 
  • Maintains the work order system as it relates to assigning work to student workers and facilities, complete and process work orders as needed, prioritizes work orders, analyze, complete and process work orders based on needs and viability of request in communication with the requestor or affected individuals. 
  • Operate and maintain the college plumbing system. 
  • Assist with and perform carpentry related work throughout campus. 
  • Comply with Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and participate in mandatory training, testing, and certification.  Comply with departmental safety policy. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner. 
  • Coordinates daily work direction to student workers 
  • Coordinates daily work direction for outsourced cleaning team
  • A MN special engineer boiler license, or ability to obtain one within 6 months 
  • The ability to obtain a MN 2C boiler license within 1.5 years
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week. 
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license. 
  • Ability to learn new computer programs and database management systems and demonstrate proficiency given adequate training. 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data. 
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to develop new strategies and goals. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, potential employers and/or other external constituents.   
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet frequently occurring deadlines. 
  • Must be goal and team oriented to build positive working relationships, and conduct business with attention to ethical considerations, and/or school/accreditation guidelines. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required by FERPA regulations.  
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds and at all levels. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal assistance. 
  • Must have strong organizational skills, and consistently displays the highest levels of integrity.  
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including select evenings and weekends to meet college business needs. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form. 
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts that speak to productivity and effective decision-making.  Ability to read and interpret charts, graphs and other visually-presented data.  Ability to work within stated budget requirements; be fiscally responsible.
