Purpose

This position will function as the first point of contact for the School of Social Work Office of the Associate Dean for Research, located at John Hargis Hall front desk. This position is responsible for managing all front desk tasks as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a variety of administrative tasks, including but not limited to parking validation, approving meeting room reservation requests, maintaining the internal department contact list, assisting with copier machines, managing supplies, maintaining security of building keys, and providing additional staff support as needed. Promptly reply to all email and phone inquiries at John Hargis Hall (JHH). Greet visitors and staff in a professional, informative manner. Maintain clear communication with supervisor and others. Collect, sort, and distribute mail and packages.

  • Redirect mail to other areas of campus when necessary. Receive, sign for, and distribute deliveries and packages from FedEx, Document Solutions, etc. Serve as a backup for the Administrative Associate as needed. Coordinate with Facilities Services for building maintenance needs (may include assisting the Building Manager located at the Dean's Office). Assist with surplus requests. Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of clerical experience. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Values the contributions of others in the work environment. Ability to work independently and to respond appropriately to needs as they arise. Reliable attendance and timeliness. Prior front desk/reception experience. Strong communication skills. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. ​

Preferred Qualifications

More than minimum years of required experience. Experience in *DEFINE financial system.

Hourly Rate

$20.00

Working Conditions

  • Attire: Business Casual

  • Professional appearance, jeans are acceptable

  • Standard Office Environment, Use of manual dexterity, Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, Lifting, pushing, or pulling

Work Shift

  • Hours per week - 30

  • Monday - Friday 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
  • This is an in-person front desk position located at John Hargis Hall (JHH) between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM daily, Monday - Friday (requires dependable, reliable attendance).
