Junior Web developer

Go Vocal, a global govtech scale-up with its HQ in Brussels, is looking for a purpose-driven Junior Web Developer to join our growing team. If you care about strengthening democracy and enjoy working with the public sector, this role is for you.

You’ll use your web development skills to develop new features for our public participation platform, enabling governments worldwide to engage citizens and make more informed decisions.

We're looking for a Junior Web Developer to join our team through the IBO (Individual Professional Training / Individuele Beroepsopleiding) program. This unique opportunity allows you to learn and grow in the role while being trained on the job for a period up to 6 months. You'll be able transition into a permanent position with us after successfully completing the training.

Requirements

What do we expect from you?

• You have a passion for solving problems through technology

• Enthusiasm, curiosity, passion and perseverance matter more than experience

• You have experience building web apps, with projects (hobby or professional) to show

• You’re an eager and quick learner: our tech stack is React, Typescript, Ruby on Rails and AWS, but other tech backgrounds are welcome

• You have strong communication skills and are not afraid to ask questions

• You approach things structurally with good organisation

• You have a collaborative mindset and thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven team

• You have the Belgian citizenship and can work in Central European Timezone

• You are registered or will register as job seeker at VDAB or Actiris

• You write and speak very good English

• This role begins with a 6-month IBO (Individual Professional Training) contract, followed by a permanent position upon successful completion. During the IBO period, you'll receive in addition to your current unemployment allowance a premium which is defined by the size of your current allowance. After which, upon hiring by GoVocal at 6 months, the full compensation package will include:
