Websphere Application Server Administrator

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Websphere Application Server Administrator to join our innovative team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will provide 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days a year support for the middle tier software infrastructure as needed for deployments, support, and troubleshooting for our USPS customer. The qualified applicant will work various shifts including weekends and overnight on-call support.

 

Required to be local to Raleigh, NC or Eagan, NM. Hybrid role 2 to 3 days remote.

 

Day to Day Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide administration, user support, performance monitoring and tuning, and capacity planning for Middle-tier software.
• Plan, develop, implement, maintain, document, and support a large and complex distributed server environment.
• Analyze and resolve complex hardware and software issues.
• Perform tests and implementing software, adds, and changes.
• Facilitate backups and restores of data and application code.
• Escalate unusual or unexpected findings to management.
• Provide and implement escalation process and/or procedures.
• Provide on-site system or application support for deployment and/or installation.
• Manage middle-tier software infrastructure both on-premises and external cloud, across all required environments (DEV/SIT/CAT/PROD).
• Manage and support patching, automation, and general maintenance of supported servers.
• Manage work tasks via the ServiceNow application.
• Support implemented technologies: web and application servers, containers and container management, messaging technologies, cloud platform and services, scripting languages and monitoring tools.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years’ experience or High School diploma/ equivalent with 12+ years’ experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must be a U.S Citizenship or Green Card holder. No sponsorships.
• Residing in the U.S for the past five years with no more than 6 months travel outside the U.S. during this time frame.
• Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members).
• Experience supporting middleware and packaged applications.
• Hands-on experience administering WebSphere Application Server ND with expertise in installation, support, analysis of logs and performance tuning.
• Excellent knowledge of supporting software on Linux.
• Strong understanding networking and security concepts.
• Deep understanding of JDBC, JMS connection management within WebSphere, and DevSecOps.
• Working knowledge of IBM MQ and/or other messaging technologies.
• Understanding of network standards, such as DHCP, DNS, SSL, TCP, UDP, IP, QoS and ICMP.
• Understanding of networking concepts, such as load balancing and routing.
• Ability to carry out basic network troubleshooting in a server runtime.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Cloud technologies (IaaS or PaaS), Manhattan WMOS and IBM Power hardware.
• Comfortable with scripting languages to automate tasks, including Bash, Perl, and Python.
• Experience with provisioning tools, such as Chef, Puppet and Ansible.

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
